Members of the House of Representatives Scaling the gate of the National Assembly
Confusion reigns at National Assembly as security forces teargas lawmakers, prevent Speaker Aminu Tambuwal from accessing House of Reps chambers. Speaker Aminu Tambuwal, others force their way through security barricade to enter national assembly.According to reports reaching us, the National Assembly complex earlier on Thursday was sealed up by security forces comprised of policemen and men of the directorate of state services.
The members of the National Assembly were prevented from gaining access into the complex where they extensively had planned to go for the days business. The House of Representatives was to have a special session today to consider President Goodluck Jonathan's request for an extension of the state of emergency in the three states of Nigeria’s northeast that has been contending with the insurgency of the Boko Haram.
But the sitting was not to hold as security agent sealed up that National Assembly and from the reports reaching us, members of the National Assembly particularly members of the House of Representatives scaled the fence and the gate of parts of the premises to gain access into the chambers and they also broke one of the gates to allow the speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal to gain access to the premises while he was prevented from actually entering the chambers of the House of Representatives.
