PUBLIC FRIENDLY CP INTERACTS WITH NDI ANAMBRA.
The new Sherrif in the State CP Garba Baba Umar today Friday 30th June 2017 interacts with Ndi Anambra on a Live Phone-in programme "TALK AM" on Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS).
The programme which gave the new CP an opportunity to address Ndi Anambra thanked God for bringing him to the Light of the Nation and promises to help make the light shine more brighter.
He promised to uphold the security apparatus already on ground and facilitate it more for effective policing.
The Command under my watch will henceforth uphold the integrity, values and professional guidelines in ensuring that rule of law prevails in our actions.
I must commend the Image maker of the Command ASP NKEIRUKA NWODE in her efforts in rebranding the image of the Command. Am sure she is equal to the task. With her when we tell you the police is your Friend, you see reasons with us to believe us despite some lapses.
A caller on the programme who wanted to know from the CP how he intends to work and harmonize the activities of other sister security outfits especially the local vigilante. The CP stated that all vigilante operatives in the state who are dully registered with the Command are under our watch and once any of them goes outside their line of engagement, the person or group will be made to face the music. Haven worked with the IGPs monitoring department saddled with checkmating and monitoring activities of officers and men of the force, I have zero tolerance to lawlessness.
Another caller who wanted to know how ready the CP was with regards to the forthcoming governorship election in the state. -- The CP stated categorically that all his life he is a man who loves challenges and he gladly looks forward to the forth coming election in Anambra state come November 18. The CP also noted that with his vast experience haven worked in Lagos and River State working under 3governors in Rivers he pointed out that he is capable of containing any security challenges that comes with the election. He advises all parties and candidates to play by the rules and shun politics of hate and calumny. He promised that the Command under his watch is out to guarantee security of life's and property in the state without compromise.
Another caller who wanted to know how the CP will tackle collection of 50 naira by officers on the road. -- The CP frowned at such misconduct and promises to deal decisively with any officer found wanting. He used the opportunity to warn officers and men of the command against corrupt practices. Am allergic to professional indiscipline and corruption, all my life. And my previous engagements with the IGP department on monitoring and checkmating indiscipline in activities of officers and men of the Force Nation wide, I cannot be found wanting now and having worked at that level, the command under my watch will give no room for any such misconduct. Through the office of the PPRO I will give out a direct contact through wish members of the public can report any misconduct of my men or officers on the road or anywhere around the state. The PPRO ASP NKEIRUKA NWODE who during the programme thanked God for giving the Command a person like CP Garba Baba Umar, a special breed in the force with vast work experience. I want to assure Ndi Anambra that the Command is in good hands and they should look out for a better policing in line with process and global best practices.
ASP NWODE enjoined the public to cooperate with the police by giving to police useful and vital information, "we are not spirits, we cannot be here and there at the same time". We need your cooperation, please don't deceive us by giving wrong and malicious information.
I commend the efforts of the state government to past CP and I call on the Governor to extend same cooperation to the New CP for a better synergy and proactive policing in the state.
