National Open University Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdallah Adamu clarifies some important issues about the Institution. NOUN the most affordable Federal Institution in Nigeria.
The Vice Chancellor last week in his office in Abuja had a media interactive session and below are some of the big points made by the VC in case you missed the interview:
* NOUN once recorded lectures in cassettes and sold to students but today the case of different, so the Institution is undergoing a serious revolutionary changes. - NOUN VC.
* I rejected been a Vice Chancellor 5times and turned down NOUN appointments 2times before I was forcefully announced the Vice Chancellor National Open University, as a matter of fact till date I never knew who submitted my name and I heard about my appointment as NOUN VC on Radio. - NOUN VC
* Poor conception about the Institution is a major challenges facing the institution, to be honest with you people need to know more about the Institution. - NOUN VC
* I was once cynical about about NOUN, but here I am today, so I see my VC ship as a direct assignment from God. - NOUN VC
* A University can be either evolutionary or revolutionary, am here today to take NOUN to a revolutionary stage which is vital for total reformation. - NOUN VC
* We have 84 active Study Centres and 9inactive Study Centres. - NOUN VC
* NOUN offers Bench Mark Minimum Academic Standard (BMMAS) and the only recognized University that provide fully ODL mode. - NOUN VC
* There is nothing like National Open University of Nigeria but rather what we have is National Open University. - NOUN VC
* On issues of NYSC and Law School, the problem we have is just the perception from the Agencies and Council that we are part-time and that perception is in our old Act which we are about to amend. - NOUN VC
* The discrimination when it comes to getting Job with a NOUN certificate is rather just unfortunate and a wrong misconception. - NOUN VC
* NOUN is very affordable, we charge 41,000 as administrative cost for new students and 13,000 for returning students. - NOUN VC
* NOUN operates a very flexible system you can take exams at your own time. - NOUN VC
* The Northern States are very poorly represented in NOUN, reasons is lack of awareness. - NOUN VC
* Education is a straight forward process, you read, you understand but knowledge is about the way you integrate with the larger society. - NOUN VC
* Our portal was never hacked, but were attempts to hack our Site and we have been hit to the extent that our system was badly damaged. - NOUN VC
* The problem the portals are having is because people are coming up with series of fake websites to create tension and cheat people and defraud students. - NOUN VC
* Some of these portal problem are partly caused by our old partners who refused to refund or give us back our data and web information and wallet balance, so these are contributory factor to the portal problem we are facing now but we are on top of the situation, am a business man from Kano. - NOUN VC.
