Anambra Finances: Obiano has Many Question marks
I did not know what prompted Dr. Tony Nwoye to call Gov. Obiano onye Ohi. Tony must have acted on the principles na asokita eze anya, ekpuru nkita n’ihu gwa ya njo ya. Tony must have reached his limit in witnessing the daily percolation of our money from the treasury. Posterity will surely vindicate him for standing out when many people, including the clergy, preferred passivity.
Most of the tales associated with Obaino and the money of Anambra State sound incredible. He once said he received “near cash” and other related nonsense.
I have severally seen the comparison of Anambra and Ebonyi flyovers. Like tales associated with Obiano, these too sound incredible.
I took it upon myself to ascertain the truth about the cost of both projects. Today, I called the CPS to the Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Uzo on the actual cost of the Ebonyi flyover. He requested I should give him a little time to call the Commissioner for Works for exactitude. He called me back and told me that the flyover cost them 1.5 Billion Naira. He went on to tell me how his Governor is an apostle of prudence, who would not embark on any project that would not give commensurate value to the State in terms of utility and cost. With that flyover, he did not need to preach to me any longer.
Now, view the pictures of both flyovers and judge for yourself. You could see that going by quality, Ebonyi’s own ought to cost twice as Ana
mbra’s own, but the contrary is the case. Even if we multiply Ebonyi’s own by three( no of our antiquity), it will come to 4.5 Billion Naira.
How do we reconcile it with the three antiquity and collapsing structure in Awka that cost us 15 Billion Naira? I remember the day they announced the variation of that flyover from the original 5 Billion Naira to 15 Billion Naira at one of the EXCO meetings, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke objected that the variation was out of proportion, but Gov. Willie Obiano, pretending as if he was in a trance, carried on nevertheless.
If you remember, the time they were doing this was exactly when we were raising alarm that the money Obi left for him was being liquidated with the speed of the light.
