PROPOSED BAN IMPOSED ON MOTORCYCLE OPERATORS WITHIN AWKA AND ONITSHA AND IT'S ENVIRON COME 1ST JULY 2018 A CLEAR INDICATION OF GOVERNMENTS INSENSITIVITY TO THE PLIGHT OF IT'S CITIZENS.
I must commend the effort of the incumbent governor of Anambra state for his efforts in transforming the state to make it habitable for all and as well wear it's desired look. It's indeed a welcomed development.
However, I'm cognizance of the fact that he has platinum of high intellectuals around him as advisers on issues that concern governance. But some policies become questionable based on the fact that their sense of reasoning are sometimes beclouded by luxuries and ecstasies associated with government especially when the decision will affect only the common man.
The proposed outlaw of motorcycle operators popularly known as OKADA at those mentioned areas has no justification whatsoever. I agree with the Governor that some robbery operations are carried out with motorcycle but major robberies are done with cars. Would we ban cars also? Of Course no.
We have to take some things into consideration before arriving at a decision. So many graduates are unemployed and they depend on this "Okada" to earn a living. Bread winners of different families take refuge on this same business... An Igbo proverb says that " Adi eji iwe oke amu uno oku" meaning " you don't burn down your house because a destructive rat has entered into it". English proverb says that "you don't throw away the child with the bathe water."
So many families are in sufferings today. Struggling to make ends meet. Both educated an uneducated alike. Governments ought to provide succor for people. It should not be used as engine of wickedness. There's hunger in the land. Governments should not behave as if they are living in another planet.
Just think about this, an Okada man manages to make #2000 to #3000 on daily basis. From this money, he feeds his family, takes care of his health, pays house rent,changes wardrobe,takes care of his sick parents, settles police on the road etc.
You have now given him two months to change business... Are you not insensitivity and wicked? How will he get the money? What business have you provided for him?
Do you think you are on that position because of your smartness and intelligent? So many who are more brilliant, more educated and politically endowed are out there struggling to eat three square meals. But God elevated you there for a purpose. Always remember that there's God. There's somebody above watching. NEVER YOU BE INSTRUMENTAL TO THE SUFFERINGS OF THE PEOPLE.
The then Governor of the state Mr Peter Obi encountered so many criticisms from most of these poor OKADA people... But he knew that a hungry man is always an angry man. He never banned okada.
finally, why not maintain the checkmates initiated by Mr Peter OBI. Republicize it " no okada from 7pm to 6am."... As most of the robberies occur in the night?...
Remember, "God loves common people most that is why he made them many" Abraham Lincoln, the then president of America. Don't oppress the poor with your position... My humble opinion anyway
