Shut down our Air Space if......

One of the reasons Mr. Peter Obi succeeded as the Governor of Anambra State was because of his peripatetic nature. He visited every part of the state in his car or by boat. It took the insistence of all the security apparati attached to his office to force him from accessing some areas in Okada. He felt the plight of the people directly and did his best to ameliorate it. When you hear that Anambra State had the best network of road under him, it was because he moved round the state, knew and did exactly what were needed to be done. During the flooding, he waded through the flood and did what nobody of his stature would do for the people. Whatever happens, his goodness has been so etched in the psyche of the people that the clash of noise coming from them cannot alter.
In the morning, I wrote about the encounter with a salesman that pretended to be a preacher. The journey that should have long terminated is still on because we met terrible traffics from a place called Summit Bus stop in Asaba to the Niger bridge, a distance of over 5 kilometers. Annoyingly, the traffics is caused by a stretch of bad road of not more than 30 meters close to the bridge.
Is this what road users suffer? After hours of travelling about 6 hours, our people will spend another three extra hours in Asaba and those that govern us are not moved.
We have the Federal Controller of Works, we have the Governors whose people are at the receiving end. Even if the Federal Government cannot do anything, why can't those on ground and closer to the people ameliorate the situation through palliative?
Though Anambra was not directly involved, I remember that under Obi, he visited the then Governor of Delta, collaborated with him, to avoid such punishment for the people and the Governor of Delta responded splendidly.
If Nigerian Government is serious at solving the problem of road infrastructure, they should simply close the air space and let everybody, including Onye isi at Abuja travel by road.
Once upon a time, when Obj was the President and paid a working visit to Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi in his own way convinced him to travel around the state by road. The scandalized OBJ thereafter ordered the immediate re-construction of the some of those roads by Anambra state Government for sure reimbursement. As detailed as he has always been, Obi got the approval and set to work.
What is happening at bridge head and similar bad spots around the state is a sad narratives about the understanding of governance in our clime.
