    Abagana Youths Take Centre Stage as Emeka Okajiegbe emerges victorious after eight (8) years...


    Is a date with history as the Anambra State Association of town union (Youth Wing) Abagana took the bull by the horns after 8years of awaiting trials.

    Abagana youths decides 2024 as Abagana Welfare Union holds youth election tagged AWU ELECTION YOUTH WING 2024 under the supervision and collaboration of ASATU Anambra State.

    The election which was conducted at the National Secretariat Abagana Welfare Union, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State saw the emergence of a brand new youth oriented leadership in the community after eight (8) years of noticable division.

    Despite all tensions, pressures and expectations the electorial committee led by Mr. Ikennna Anisi worked round the clock to give Abagana community an unbridled new image of consolidated youth platform.

    The entire process from arrivals, screening, accreditation, voting, sorting, counting and declaration of winners met the desired global standards for a fair, free, peaceful, credible, transparent and all inclusive process inline with ASATU guidelines in the State.

    Recall that Abagana community for the past eight years has been without a democratically elected youth body to foresee the affairs of the youth constituency in the community leaving a huge leadership vacuum.

    The June 8th election will go down in history as one which ushers in a new brand democratic dispensation in the community as the Anambra State ASATU President His Youthfulness Comrade Ken Okoli commended the excellent job done by the Abagana Electorial Committee under the chairmanship of Hon. Ikennna Anisi and his team stating his satisfaction with the process and urge other communities and parent bodies to emulate such for a free, fair & transparent process.

    The Abagana Welfare Union President General Engr. Ben Okongwu (Ugbana Abagana) noted that the parent body was on ground to ensure that the process was successful in accordance with the directives of the state government so Abagana youths won't be missing or found wanting at the state level and wished all candidates a peaceful outing noting that the interest of Abagana community & the youth is paramount.

    The election pressures and tensions was more manifest on candidates for the position of the Youth Leader of the community as other candidates for other positions hope to cruise to victory under the umbrella of the most strategic and meticulous chairmanship candidate.

    The electorial committee in collaboration with the Abagana Welfare Union parent body put in place a conducive and secured environment to ensure a free rancor, fair and transparent process as security operatives were visibly on ground to forestall any breach of Peace as Mr. J O Modebelu (CSO Abagana VG) coordinated the security architecture for the election.

    After a fierce contest; His Youthfulness Comrade Emeka Okajiegbe (Ijele) emerged winner Abagana ASATU Youth President with 70 votes cast beating his closest rival Mr. Uchenna Umeadi who got 26 votes; other newly elected officials includes,



    First Vice: Mr. Okeke Uche
    Second Vice: Mr. Okafor Onyeka

    Secretary: Mr. Emeh Amandi 
    Assistant; Moses Chiemelie

    Financial Secretary: Emmanuel Oguejiofor

    Treasurer: MacAnthony Ofole

    PRO 1: Ikechukwu John
    PRO 2: Augustine Okechukwu

    Provost 1: Onyeka Nwokolo
    Provost 2: Daniel Nwazojie

    Welfare Secretary 1: Ngananga Chidubem
    Welfare Secretary 2: Okonkwo Elias; were all declared winners in accordance with the stipulated guidelines by the electorial committee chairman Hon. Ikennna Anisi and officially sworn into office by Comrade Nwankwo Samuel (Chairman Caretaker Committee).

    The Abagana Youth President, His Youthfulness Comrade Emeka Okajiegbe (Ijele) could not hide his joy and he promised Abagana youths an all inclusive leadership for the interest of Abagana youths, Abagana community and Anambra State as he also thanked the Solution Governor Prof. Charles Soludo for believing in the youth structure of ASATU as he promised Abagana youths won't be found wanting or lagging behind again in the affairs of the youths at the state level.

    Independent observers gave accolades to the Electoral Committee, the youths of Abagana, the delegates and all stake holders for conducting themselves so orderly and mannerly through out the process.

    Hon. Nnamdi Anierobi (Secretary Caretaker Committee) on behalf of the committee congratulated the new elected officers and urged them to hold and cherish in high esteem the mandate of Abagana youths and take the association to the next level.
