Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you all to this official press brief.
First, let me confess my delight in addressing you all today been Thursday 29th June 2017. Without been told am sure am sitting before a proactive, smart and helpful members of the fourth Estate who will play a partnership role with the state Command in achieving a more and better secured state as security of lives and property is our collective responsibility.
I will like us all to feel free and familiarize, by the end I will be glad to take some questions if any. I hope to build a more press friendly command under my watch through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer. This I believe we can compliment to help us create a better picture of the activities of the command to the general public as the command under my watch is all out to lift the face of policing inline with global best practices. With time am sure the Police Public Relations Officer will draft an outline for a more Press participation in some of the activities of the Command. Am sure you can share with me the importance of police press relationship in modern policing can never be over emphasized. The press as middle men between the Public and the Police will definitely yield a lot of positive results in fighting crime and feedbacks. You will agree with me we are all public servants for a better and secured society. I look forward to your cooperation in assisting the command under my watch to achieve ZERO TOLERANCE TO CRIME AND INDISCIPLINE.
The command under my watch is very determined to make Anambra State a "NO GO AREA FOR CRIMINALS". I sincerely call on you gentlemen of the press to take this message to Ndi Anambra. We must all work collectively and in collaboration to sustain the relative peace and crime free state. The command under my watch will always look out for best practical approach to fighting crime and weeding off criminal elements from the state. We are determined to fish out criminals anywhere there are within the state and bust their den except if they repent and come forward for reformation.
I implore the press to assist the command in the duty of maintaining a peaceful society by desisting from some damaging reportage or reportage capable of disrupting public peace. The command under my watch will always at appreciate time release to the press useful and adequate information through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer. We must cooperate and be friendly partners in crime fighting for a better and peaceful society.
The command under my watch will never relent or compromise its determination to enhance and sustain all proficient and aggressive crime prevention operations inline with international best practices and our professional engagements. We are rather doubling efforts and putting more operational man power to what is already on ground to stay abreast of any eventuality. We are determined to keep criminals always on their toe until their repent or relocate. If we have enjoyed 60% security consciousness in the state and 100% is possible based on logistics and operational capacity of officers and men of the command, then I can assure you, the command is very much determined now to get there.
Let me use this opportunity to commend the Intelligent Tact Team (I.T.T) of the Command attached to Aguata Division for their quick response and swift action in the arrest of one Emeka Anulunso, Male, 25years from Umuakpolom Okija (LGA) who murdered, burnt and buried someone at the backyard of a Brewery Depot. The suspect who happens to be a vigilante operative attached to the Brewery Depot killed the deceased on Thursday 22/06/2017 and dragged the dead body to a toilet inside the premises for three days and on Sunday 25/06/2017, the suspect wrapped the corpse with a thick leather cover, took the body to a lonely part of the Depot premises and burnt the corpse with a tyre in a shallow grave and covered the remnants of the burnt corpse. Two days later, a very offensive odour filled the premises of the depot and the suspect the vigilante on guard at the Depot was no where to be found. The Command Intelligent Tact Team was alerted and relying on actionable operational intelligence, the suspect was arrested while trying to flee and confessed to the crime. The suspect took the police to where he buried the deceased and the decomposing body of the deceased was exhumed with the head missing. Forensic pathologists attached to the (SCIID) department have swung into action for forensic evidence/evidences on the identify of the deceased. Items recovered from him: 1 pump action revolver gun, cell phones, sim cards,.....,.... Exhibits - Blood soaked shovel, Blood soaked blanket, Blood soaked wrapper, Blood soaked toilet etc. On conclusion of a diligent investigation on the matter, I assure you the suspect will be charged to court to face the law.
Is my prayer this signals a serious warning to others. Let me commend the Intelligent Tact Team (I.T.T) for their swift response on the matter as investigation revealed that the suspect was planning relocating from the state before the long arm of the law caught up with him.
One thing I can assure Ndi Anambra is that the command has put adequate measures in place to fight crime to zero level, hence the reason we tag Anambra "NO GO AREA FOR CRIMINALS" - (NGAFC) as you all know NGA is cell so nga awaits any criminal still in any part of the state. Under my watch I assure Ndi Anambra of a responsive, proactive and combatant Intelligent Tact Team for the protection of lives and property across the state. The Police Public Relations Officer will after harmonization of the control numbers with which you can reach various commands and units make it available to the public.
