Traditional Rulers and President Generals, Religious leaders and leaders of thought have no right whatsoever under the earth to decide or speak on behalf of their people during electioneering and campaigns.
While I hold the traditional and religious institutions so high and accord all necessary respect required of me as their subject, no obligation under the sun insists on me to accept whatsoever they decide on my or a collective ground, particularly as regards elections.
Leaders are like fathers to all, they cannot and as a matter of utmost importance come to any public domain or fora to proudly support any candidate in any elections whatsoever, and deny other contenders.
If Ezeike Nibo, or our President General or my Parish Priest or Pastor insist on us that he is supporting a candidate and so, we all must do same, I will go against such directive and support who my conscience stands for.
They can decide for themselves, their families or their followers, obviously not for me. I should be able to think with my head, analyze from my mind, watch with my eyes, hear from my ears and feel with my hands, where need be, in order to decide for myself.
No one, not even my parents or siblings can decide for me on who to support or to vote. It's my civic responsibility and my right, my choice not theirs.
Lately, it's honestly disheartening that some of our leaders, particularly Religious leaders and traditional leaders plus their President Generals have suddenly turned to campaigners. If they stand by a candidate, what becomes of other hopefuls? And what if their choice fails?
This is democracy, don't allow anyone to decide or speak for you. As an individual, it's your choice to make not theirs.
