    UKPO COMMUNITY HOLDS VALEDICTORY CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF FORMER DPO DUNUKOFIA DIVISIONAL STATION FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE

    VALEDICTORY CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF FORMER DPO UKPO DIVISIONAL POLICE STATION 

    Appreciation they say can make a day change a life; this the Ukpo community and Igwe in council finds worthy as the community bids farewell to the former DPO Ukpo Divisional Police - SP Nda Effiong as he bows out of service.


    SP Nda Effiong, an Indigene of Eket in Akwa Ibom State was deployed to Dunukofia Division, November 23, 2021. He served the Police Force as the 22nd Divisional Police Officer of Dunukofia Division from where he retired on May 01, 2023 after thirty five years in Service.

    The Valedictory retirement ceremony which was put together by Igwe in council Ukpo  held at the Banquet hall Imeobi of Dunukofia Palace Ukpo and was presided over by His Majesty Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze ( Okofia VI) Igwe Ukpo and Clan Head of Dunukofia Ancient Kingdom in a convivial atmosphere saw in attendance Religious leaders, Political leaders, Stakeholders, Traditional leaders, captains of industries and heads of various security outfits all turned up to bid farewell and say "THANK YOU" to SP NDA EFFIONG.

    The Chief Host His Majesty Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze (Okofia VI) during the breaking of kolanut elugized SP EFFIONG as he prayed for peace in Ukpo community and Nigeria while urging SP Nda Effiong to keep up with the values that kept him outstanding in service to Ukpo community and father land.

    Welcoming guests to the  ceremony, the principal secretary Igwe in council and Chairman Ukpo Ceremonies Committee; Ichie Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze (Ichie Chinemeze N'Ukpo) thanked everyone who despite their very engaging tight schedules spared time to be part of the ceremony. 

    Ichie Izuchukwu who went down memory lane from 1792 till date pointing out Ukpo community as a unique Kingdom haven produced men and women of substance in various positions of leadership in the country as he extols the numerous and immense contribution of Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze (Ebube Ukpo) a dependable pillar of Ukpo community and the Nation at large.

    Sir Izuchukwu thanked SP Nda Effiong for his exemplary leadership skills and values in discharging his policing services as he pointed out that such special breed is what is needed to entrench trust and professionalism in the force.

    The Chairman Igwe in council, Ide Okwuchukwu Albert Ezeaku while 
    appreciating SP Nda Effiong on behalf of His Majesty Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze, Ide Ezeaku pointed out that it takes discipline for one to serve the Nation for Thirty five years and retire in peace. He wished him well in his future endeavors and handed  over the Letter of Appreciation from Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze ( Okofia VI) which was read by the Principal Secretary to the Igwe of Ukpo Community- Ichie Sir Izuchukwu Nwabueze ( Ichie Chinemeze N'Ukpo) alongside other token of Appreciation.

    Ide Ezeaku also thanked His Majesty Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze for such a kind gesture.

    Speaking to newsmen; the former DPO SP NDA EFFIONG in whose honour the ceremony was held could not hide his joy noted that hard-work and  commitment to the tents of the profession was his stepping stone towards achieving all he could as he prays for God's protection, peace and progress on all the illustrious sons and daughters of the community.

    SP Nda Effiong specially thanked His Majesty Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze (Okofia VI), Prince Engr. Dr. Arthur Eze (Ebube Ukpo, Ozoigbondu) for the honour done to him and support in the course of his work and service and equally sought for forgiveness from those he might have wronged in the course of discharge of his service as he was only but human.

    High point of the event was the special Valedictory prayers by Ven. Shalom Ginika (Head of Ukpo Anglican Mission) and  official presentation of the Meritorious Award by His Majesty Igwe Dr. Robert Chukwudilim Eze (Okofia VI) to the outgoing DPO SP Nda Effiong, signing of the Ancient visitors register of Dunukofia palace and a group photography by the Igwe in council and the family of the outgoing DPO Ukpo Divisional Police Station.

    The youth leader Ukpo Improvement Union (UIU) Comrade Chijioke Egbunam on behalf of Ukpo youths thanked the Igwe in council for such a wonderful gesture to the  outgoing DPO and thanked the former DPO for all his services to the community as he enjoins the incoming DPO to work in synergy with the community Stakeholders in ensuring crime is kept at the barest level through effective and visibility policing.

    Rev. Canon John Agbugba  gave the final blessings as he prays for continuous peace and development in the community, in the state and in Nigeria.
