My dear fellows Youths, today marks yet another great day in the history of our democratic dispensation in Nigeria. Many may argue why must we celebrate amidst the harsh political and economic situation facing the country today. Coming this far despite all these challenges is one reason to celebrate today, also today should provide us as Youths the mental / psychological Vernon for a serious need to go back to our drawing board and vision out the way to take our pride of place in the current polity of this great Nation.
I will make this speech as short as possible and will like to anchor the speech on two lines from the National Anthem which says: " The Labour of Our Heroes past - To serve with Heart and Might, one Nation bound in Freedom, Peace and Unity".
This years democracy celebrations should provide an opportunity for us all as Young Leaders the need for sober reflection and the importance to wake-up from our slumber and do the needful. We can't afford to be spectators in the events happening in the polity under our nose. We must not continue to sit on the fence as watch things pass us by. The time has come for us young men / leaders to stand up and reclaim our rightful pride of place in Nigerians polity. We must break away from the shackles of political slavery and economic sabotage against the young leaders.
The Nigerian Nation is going through the worst stage of its democratic journey now and as young persons we must not just stand by to watch, as young leaders and leader of tomorrow we must take part in the events to will shape our own tomorrow.
Why has Nigeria remained stagnated after all these years? Why does it seems nothing is done to the Nigerian Nation?
This years celebrations, I call on Anambra Youths, let's come together and ask some vital questions on the way forward. We must visualize our target in the next decade for the youths constituency in the state.
We must shun corruption in all sections, like it or not, corruption has become pandemic and corruption is the reason why our democracy is still at the infant stage after some many years. We must shun ethnicity, religious intolerance, greed, incompetence, insecurity, insincerity and politics of calumny.
Before I round off, let me in a special way appreciate and celebrate the Government of Anambra State under the leadership of the Chief Servant - Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike) for his Youthfulness and Youth friendliness of his administration. Anambra Youths has never had it so good before now.
On behalf of the National Youth Council of Nigeria ANAMBRA state, we thank the Governor for his support to the Council and assure him of our prayers.
Dear fellow Youths, we must visualize, articulate and vision out a dramatic short - time workable drastic solutions to place us back in our pride of place in the Nigerian political Calendar. The current status quo in the contemporary Nigeria polity needs to be totally reshuffled and reformed to accommodate the rich asset/contributions of the Nigerian Youths. Across the world , Youths are taking over, we can't afford to be spectators in our own course.
Once again Happy Democracy Day to us ..!
